Youth Basketball Program
Boys 2nd and 5th Grade - looking for a few more players for each level.
Southwest Stags is a youth basketball program in Southwest Missouri (Springfield area) for Boys ages K/1st, 4th - 9th grade, and includes all skill levels. As owner and Head Coach, I am very passionate about basketball, physical fitness, and reinforcing strong character within my players. The goal of Southwest Stags basketball is to not only develop skilled basketball players, but to also reinforce positive traits such as Attitude, Character, and Effort.
1st Two Practices are Free
Monthly Player Fee: $75
Includes: 1 Weekly Team Practice, 1 Weekly Performance Training Practice (optional),
League Fees (8-10 games), and Gym Use Fees
Player Uniform: $65
We play year-round
All skill levels are welcome!
We host tryouts before each new Fieldhouse League Session begins to assess player skill levels & determine team placements
5th grade team practices are on Monday evenings at
Seminole Baptist Temple (contact for times). 2nd grade practices are on Thursday evenings at First & Calvary Presbyterian Church (contact for times).
Performance Training Practices (optional)
are Wednesday evenings (5th grade) at First & Calvary Presbyterian Church.
STAGS VS. DADS 1ST ANNUAL BASKETBALL GAME
5th grade STAGS team had fun playing a fierce game of basketball against their dads/relatives. The final score was 42 (STAGS) - 38 (DADS). What a fun night!
1:1 BASKETBALL AND SPORTS PERFORMANCE TRAINING
My goal, as a coach and trainer, is to help athletes reach their full potential by focusing on sports specific skills, conditioning, agility, strength, and endurance. These sessions are designed to meet the specific needs of individuals of all levels.
Individual affiliated with program: $20 per hour; nonaffiliated with program: $30 per hour
Group affiliated with program (2-4): $15 each per hour; nonaffiliated with program: $25 per hour

Tom Stagner is the Head Coach/Founder and has over 18 years experience in the fitness industry as a manager, personal trainer (NASM certified), sports conditioning trainer (NASM-Performance Enhancement Specialist) and youth exercise and sports trainer (NASM-Youth Exercise Specialist). He was a 1st Team All-Conference basketball player in high school, was ranked one of the top 3-point shooters in the state his Senior year, and played two years College Basketball at Mineral Area Junior College, where his team was ranked nationally in the Top 10 and earned a Conference Championship.
